I think if I had to assign some sort of label to my own philosophical beliefs, that would be it. Basically I’m a libertarian not out of some religious, dogmatic adherence to some “non-aggression principle” or any other sort of ethical code, but rather because I think a society in which each person is free to make decisions for themselves leads, necessarily, to a society which operates better. Through free and voluntary assocation (for the most part, not always though) people as individuals help determine what is best for each individual as a member of society.
I guess, epistemologically speaking, what separates my own ideas regarding libertarianism from most others is that I’m not an extreme, atmoistic individualist. I think atomistic individualism is naive individualism. I agree that any sociological analysis should begin with the consideration of individual behavior, but that doesn’t mean it should be restricted to a mere analysis of individual behaviors.
