BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old middle school student has been arrested for postings on Twitter that made derogatory comments about some Bentonville High School students.
Authorities say that postings from two Twitter accounts — one called Freezebook and one called Burnbook10 — included racist, homophobic and other comments about students. According to the Benton County Daily Record, one tweet encouraged a student to commit suicide; another taunted a student for allegedly having an eating disorder.
Police Chief Jon Simpson says the 12-year-old was arrested Thursday and taken to the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center. The boy, who wasn’t identified because he’s a minor, was arrested on suspicion of making harassing communications. Both accounts have since been deleted.
